🌿 Expect High Insect & Fungal Activity This Year in DFW Landscapes

Aphids, fungus, and more—here’s what to expect (and how to stay ahead) this season in North Texas landscapes.

If you’ve spent any time in the garden this spring, you’ve likely noticed something a little… off. From aphids to fungal spots, 2025 is shaping up to be an intense year for insect and fungal activity in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

At Envision Landscape Group, we’re already seeing it firsthand on properties across the metroplex. Aphids, like the ones pictured above, are arriving in full force—and they’re not being picky. We’ve spotted them on everything from Creeping Jenny to Oregano, Geraniums, and even flowering perennials. The first sign? A sticky, glossy film on leaves, followed by curling, yellowing, and stunted plant growth.

Our team spotted these invaders early—thanks to one of our youngest nature scouts! Catching them early is key. While aphids can cause serious stress to plants and delay blooming, they’re also one of the easier pests to manage with timely treatment.

Here's what we Recommend

And let’s not forget the fungi. With increased humidity and rainfall in North Texas this spring, fungal diseases are also on the rise. Preventative treatments and proper plant spacing can help, but early identification is crucial for minimizing damage.

Partnering for Protection

If you manage a commercial property, make sure your landscape partner is prepared. They should have licensed chemical technicians on staff, be proactive with site inspections, and be ready to act swiftly to protect your investment.

Nature has its way of balancing out—but sometimes it needs a little help. Let’s work together to keep your property thriving through the challenges this season brings.
